The Cherry forums are really helpful, even if you don’t write romance/chick lit/women’s fiction (most everyone over there seem to be women). I found this discussion called “Blood on the Page,” about getting real emotion into your writing.

Now, since this is something I struggle with at times, I took notes. The gist of this was that you have to dig down and get your own issues out there, how you feel about them (ouch) and put that feeling into your work. Maybe not with the same issues, but that intensity of emotion.

This is going to be challenging. But it feels right. We’ll see how it goes.
