There’s a discussion over on Forward Motion about motivations for writing. There’s a few I honestly hadn’t thought of. Contributing to literature, having a positive influence on others (aka ‘saving the world’), making money, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I thought the best answer was, “it doesn’t matter what your reason for writing is, the important part is that your reasons are enough for you.”

Which seems pretty straightforward to me.

I think of this as I start another marathon writing session this month. Why do I write? Because I love writing. And that’s enough reason for me.

Why do you write?
